Crested Butte Mountain Sports Team is proud to announce a series of new short time camps.  Camps will be held at strategic times throughout the season to target both local athletes and athletes wishing to access Crested Butte’s classic terrain.  Camps will be sanctioned and staffed by the Mountain Sports Team and will serve to compliment preparation for upcoming seasons or competitions.   Programs commence at 9 a.m. and conclude at 3 p.m.  Lunch supervision is not included.  All athletes are to meet at the Grand Lodge Yurt.


Christmas Competition Camp 
December 27 – 31, 2008

This season’s Christmas Competition camp targets athletes wishing to gain early season on-snow volume in snowboarding, alpine racing, and big mountain/free ride skiing.  Athletes will join the ranks of the Crested Butte Mountain Sports Team and work with their qualified staff.  Training will include directed free skiing/riding and gate training where applicable.  Certain levels of proficiency are required.  Screenings will be held the first day of training.  Ages 8 and up.


US Extremes Prep Camp  
February 15 – 17, 2009

Crested Butte’s classic extreme terrain is not something that is easily conquered.  It takes years to truly learn the nuances of the endless amounts of exposure, chutes, aspects and cliffs.  That is unless you have some veteran assistance.  Crested Butte Mountain Sports Team is ready to provide top instruction and local knowledge of winning lines for competitors in the 2009 US Extreme Freeskiing Championships.  Ski with Woody Lindenmeyr, CBMST Big Mountain Head Coach, former Freeskiing competitor and six time judge, in the days leading into the competition and find the line that will show off your abilities the best.  Participants will get in-depth knowledge on CB’s terrain and the latest concepts in technique and what the judges are looking for.  Get prepared to do your very best in the comp. Teams and groups welcome.  Ages 14 and up, athletes must be comfortable on high angle terrain.


Prater Cup Prep Camp  
February 16 - 18, 2009

Crested Butte Mountain Sports Team is pleased to announce the return of the Prater Cup Prep camp for the ’09 season.  Last year this camp saw great success in preparing athletes and honing skills for Crested Butte’s classic Prater Cup.  This season the prep camp will consist of heavy skill building with a focus on speed skills.  Athletes will be reintroduced to their fundamental skill base and will gain further experience in speed skills, including glide turns, aerodynamics and terrain work.  The focus for this camp will be free skiing with simple GS and SG gate training progressions.  

US Telemark Extremes Prep Camp 
March 17 - 19, 2009

Crested Butte Mountain Sports Team is excited to host a Telemark Freeskiing Prep Camp to get your free-heeling form and lines dialed before this season’s competition.  Ross Matlock, PSIA telemark trainer and head judge of this event, will be your insightful coach.  His veteran terrain guidance, flawless technique and years of experience on the judging stand will give participants an unprecedented inside approach to help you with your line selection, technique and exactly what the judges are looking for.  Ages 14 and up, athletes must be comfortable on high angle terrain.

Applicants must complete short time camp athlete sign up and the Development Program’s liability release and medical release.  Please make checks payable to CBMR.
